We are pleased to share a new ELECTROLIFE publication by CNR in Energies: “Energy Analysis of an ICE and Electrolyzer-Based Poly-Generative System with Renewable Energy Storage Supporting Green Mobility and Building Loads”.
The study investigates a smart poly-generative energy system that combines a biomass-fuelled engine, solar PV, a PEM electrolyzer, and Vehicle-to-Grid technology to support both green mobility and building energy needs. Through simulations across different seasons and mobility-demand scenarios, the researchers demonstrated how renewable electricity can be efficiently converted into hydrogen for fuel cell vehicles while also supplying electricity and heat to residential buildings.
The results show that the system can operate with very limited dependence on the national grid, produce up to 9.23 kg of renewable hydrogen per day, and fully meet domestic hot water demand year-round. By integrating renewable energy, hydrogen production, and EV-based storage, the proposed approach offers a promising pathway towards more sustainable and resilient local energy systems.
Congratulations to CNR and the authors on this valuable contribution to renewable hydrogen and integrated energy solutions.
